What's The Bottom Line with Wicked?

Wicked

June 10th 2003 was the first performance and I saw it 30th July 2014

Starring Nikki Davis-Jones (Mamma Mia: The Movie) and Emily Tierney (John Carter of Mars)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

Well, I knew that it was about the wicked witch of the west called Elphaba and I guess we know about her story and why she is so evil and 'wicked'. Yes, I said the same word as the title so does many other people let's move on. I was thinking of Wizard of Oz and The Great and Powerful Oz the movies and I can see how a musical can happen but the actual people and characters whom of them are in the musical.

After I Watched The Film?

I don't want to say any spoilers. However, we see some of the original characters from The Wizard of Oz not just the Elphaba and Glinda we see more of the original characters with there own back story of how they are in the musical. It's a very great feel good movie I think. That sums it up nicely without any spoilers getting out. Visually it's a stunning piece of art, the costumes are truly inspiring to watch it's like literally walking through the doors of Oz and being welcomed into the kingdom. It's actually a great family musical to watch as well. I thought the storyline was excellent and all the songs are truly different to watch and listen too. I have the playlist on my Spotify and I watched it today! It's truly addictive. One of my friends said and I quote "I have seen this 9 times" and I was like....really? AND, I can see why. It' brings the old Wizard of Oz to a new light. The full title is Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz. Hooked. It's showing a different side of the wicked witch and the good witch of the north. Madame Morrible and The Wizard was truly a great combination to watch on stage, Dale Rapley who played the wizard was utterly brilliant! He reminded me of a Billy Flynn from Chicago, he was a show man! He was a fraud and a 'wicked' man too. Miadam Morrible played by Marilyn Cutts and she actually played Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd that gives you some idea of her character with her singing. But, collective it's an inspiring visual spectatuclar and even made the head of Oz something to watch with special effects involve. Making Oz, magical and a spec of fantastic scenery. I did feel some of the scenery was quite clockwork and vintage from the look of the background which worked well for some specific scenes I did feel I was in an old ancient time with a great modern personalities. This has been going as well since 2003! So, for 11 years it's still going strong and I can see why. Music beautifully written and great performers! PLUS, there's puppets in this musical too! The cub and the head of Oz. Which I say check out some of the interviews of how they made certain stuff in this production it truly is interesting if you like the "how did they do that" to see the end result.

Is it like the Great and Powerful Oz?

No, it's completely completely different and if you're into your musicals this is a defo MUST SEE. It's a very modern musical with great singers and performers with passionate dancers. I did see a touring group thou, but I did feel the magic was still there. I will say thou, the villains is not what you think AND there is a lot of emerald or in plain sight GREEN!

So, What's The Bottom line?

Bottom Line? Check out when Wicked is near you because it truly is a must see to watch on stage. And, I rarely recommend stage productions but this musical should be added to your knowledge of musicals and it's generally a great watching performance. From the words of the great and powerful Oz.......this is WONDERFUL. Sorry, my favourite song haha! It is truly wonderful thou. A GREAT musical to see that should be all the bottom line bottomliners.

Tips If Watching The Film?

  1. If you like costume design, this is great to get ideas
  2. If your new to theatre, get exposed with some special effects here
  3. Really look at the cast list .....
  4. Plus, the spoilers I WON'T mention it's great to watch we see three key characters from Wizard of Oz and how they are there really.
  5. Once you've seen it, go on YouTube and check out some interviews on how they made some of the special effects, cast members, directors etc just to get more of what you paid for.

My Rankings

Well, they say it's the most popular musical this year. And, it is! I rate this top dollar 10 out of 10 because it's well worth seeing.

Here's a trailer for this amazing musical enjoy and hope you see it soon.

What's The Bottom Line With The Mask?

The Mask (1994)

First off, HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARY. On 19th August 1994 the film The Mask came onto our big screens and still makes us laugh today. This year marks it's 20th Anniversary of the first release of this film. But, this blog might tell you why it still going strong and how most people know about this film.

Starring Jim Carrey (Ace Venture and Bruce Almighty) Cameron Diaz (There's Something About Mary and Shrek) and Peter Riegert (Oscar and Local Hero)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

You know what, I knew I like it before it even came on. Because, I think I watched this film around 1996 because I watched the TV show The Mask. And, it was just goofy and insane to watch and the animation back then was really stunning (not like today more WOW COLOUR!). I like Jim Carrey from Ace Venture as well so I knew I would enjoy this film. The other actors, back then I didn't really knew who Cameron Diaz was this was my first film I saw her in. So, I was excited mainly! But, before we move on below is the 90s The Mask ever. They did one live action film and that opened the door to the animated series and the animated film. I haven't seen the animated film but the animated series was just amazing growing up as a kid.

After I Watched The Film?

Laughs all round with some serious bits. The Mask is truly one of Jim Carrey's best performances. He is the Mask, and he will always be the Mask. I can't see anyone at all portraying the Mask better than how he portrayed it. If you don't know, he plays a man that really has a rotten time in his life. Then, he stumbles across this wooden mask and in a way looks creepy for the time period it was in. And then.....BOOM....IT'S PARTY TIME.....P....A....R...T...Y? Because, I gotta! I personally think, Jim Carrey's the Mask is just this innocent goofy kid that when your little wanna be and then he is just an old romantic, he has crazy ideas fighting crime and he is abit random. He will have one idea and then jump to another. Personally, this film should be shown to kids today because even thou it's 20 years old! It's still got the great family atmosphere of a film and it's just cute. Plus, this film for me first introduced what a Mafia is. It's a very lighten and lowered form of a Mafia. Yeah, you get the silly ones that don't know what there doing. But, still it's a great film. We have slapstick, comedy, dance numbers, action, adventure, animation, It's overall a great film. Plus, some of the scenes with the dog was actually ab-lipped as well. If you check the IMDB site, they actually give you some random facts, trivia and I didn't know this the credits. Yes, the credits are crazy as well at the end which I never noticed. Come on thou, when I was 5 I watch the film until the last actor is gone! I now know like in The Avengers always a sneak peek into something for the next film. Plus, whilst I was looking at some of the images The Mask costume the orange one. TO ME, reminds me of a smooth Jazz player but then a really bad sketch from an animation show! I think his costumes as well we have to remember are also funny to watch. So, I think the comedy with the costumes and Jim Carrey really makes this film something that you just can't get out of your head!

(Here's some of the funny moment within The Mask

Considering How Well This Movie Has Done, Will They Make Another?

That's the thing there has been a film called 'Son of the Mask' which wasn't really this film. I mean, it has the Mask in it. But, that's the only thing I would compare it too. We have Odin and Loki which to me is just The Avengers this film portrays them as really goofy and ridiculous. But, the Son of the Mask implies sex because the baby is made from the Mask.....I know! But, I like the animation bits in the film and I like how the dad tries to cope with this very insane baby. However, they shouldn't remake the Mask like this. Personally, I dunno. I wouldn't want Jim Carrey to come back because how it ended he got the girl of his dreams. Like the traditional way movies end. But, maybe.....just maybe Cameron Diaz puts on the mask and she goes on this mental shopping spree who knows? I like the creativity of the baby made from the mask that was okay but how it was executed. Like, I know it's a kids film but do we need Greek Mythology to explain that! NO! Maybe, an Exorcist and runs out of the house. I thought the film was too much kiddy, I mean we do need the adults to have fun as well. The Son of the Mask was very lowered down compare to The Mask. The comedy was lacking as well. So, that being said I don't think we will see another Mask because the creativity was lacking and the box office didn't sell that great either.

I don't know if Marvel does have ANYTHING like The Mask. BUT, I found this image below and I think just looking at it makes me go "OMG! THIS COULD HAPPEN!" Because, we can't change the history now but the Mask was made by Loki and it has most of his powers in it. So, what if Loki finds this Mask and joins Thanos or wearing the Mask makes him invincible which from The Mask film technically does. I dunno thou, I still think it would get ruined imagine the Hulk wearing this Mask! Hahaha I can't imagine it. I doubt it very very much thou it just wouldn't make sense and Marvel fans would probably be disappointed at the fact that it's not in the Marvel universe. But, am a Marvel fan I would love to hear Stan Lee say "Let's give it a go true believers" But.....nahhhh I think it would just be funny to watch no matter how gruesome this Mask damage can do. We will think Jim Carrey's goofiness. But, love the artwork of who made this thou.

So, What's The Bottom line?

If you haven't seen it....SEE IT! It's truly one of the best Jim Carrey's comedy films you'll ever see. That's the bottom line.

Tips If Watching The Film?

  1. My only tip, just enjoy this goof ball, looney and utterly ridiculous comedy.
  2. And, compare animation from 1994 to today's films. We very rarely see something like this in today's film industry which is a shame. Because, we remember these kinds of films like The Mask, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Space Jam!. Personally, we need more like these films!

My Rankings

For clear reasons, I give this film a 10 out of 10 I can't fault it. IMDB users gave this a 6.8 which is a good rating I think people lower the ratings because some people don't like Jim Carrey and his goofiness.

One of my favourite one liners from The Mask:

What's The Bottom Line With Instinct?

Instinct (1999)

Starring Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs and the Elephant Man), Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire and What Dreams May Come) and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Italian Job)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

It was on my top 10 recommend lists for Netflix. I was just curious about the film, I read the description it's basically about a man out of society and learned to live with wild animals. Sounds boring right? Well, I like to give everything a go! And, I gave this film a major go because it has three of my favourite actors in it. Anthony Hopkins whom I haven't seen in a really really bad film, his acting is excellent and I believe he likes his reputations as one of the great actors so he does read the script before deciding and doing some research too. Cuba Gooding Jr. I like from Jerry Maguire and What Dreams May Come but I also liked him in Red Tails and Snow Dogs. His acting can be very similar, he hasn't changed his attitude in most films but here it's quite a more serious role so I was excited to watch this film. Then, Donald Sutherland which many people now will know him from the Hunger Games as the President. I like his acting, it's quite interesting to watch and here he is playing a doctor so be nice to compare this character to Hunger Games.

After I Watched The Film?

This film is actually beautiful to watch, there is a lot of psychology issues that happen here. Because, when we think of someone being out of society for a long period of time we either adapt or go insane....It's true because some people can't cope without human interaction for so long it's a fact. So, here we have a really interesting film about a man that has murdered someone but can't communicate because he has been brought up whilst studying these animals to communicate with other animals. If I would have to narrow this story down, imagine Tarzan in his 80s but there's lots of reasoning and understanding of all parties in this film. Also, we see these animals behaviour and personalities from just one man so we understand his abilities more. Anthony Hopkins really makes this film interesting to watch and with the support of Cuba Gooding Jr. really makes this film an eye opener. I can't remember if this is in fact a true story, but it's interesting to watch and listen. Anthony Hopkins character has very similar intelligence to Hannabal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. But, the difference is......Personally, is that THIS character in this film has more humanity and spirituality then Hannabal Lecter has. But, they both in some ways are animalistic but some humans have this ability when protecting there loved ones. So, consider that if your watching this film.

What's The Main Reason This Film Is So Interesting?

In the planiest form, it's showing us what we don't want to see. It's showing us humanity in the purest of forms and what we can and maybe one day will become if we do what Anthony Hopkins character does. But, we as a collective of understanding animals the most recent film about animals understanding is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I want to see this film because it's a What If film again because this could happen. Whilst, Instinct is a THIS IS HAPPENING film. This film has already happened, and is still happening today. It's an interesting film to watch if you like drama, psychology involve and human understanding principles.

So, What's The Bottom line?

My bottom line today would be, give it a go. It's something different if you like Anthony Hopkins and it's incredibly enjoyable to watch. And, in one scene I actually cried because it was that powerful Anthony Hopkins performance.

Tips If Watching The Film?

  1. Don't try to understand the why, watch and the questions you wanna know will be answered.
  2. I really watched how Anthony Hopkins played his character earlier and later on in the film, there's a huge contrast which you know it when you watch it.

My Rankings

IMDB users rated this a really lovely 6.5 I would happily give this a 9 or even a 10. The reason am not giving it a 10 is because of the ending. I felt like it was a bit mellow, like we heightened it up and then it ends with a mellow relaxed way. That's the only reason.

What's The Bottom Line With The Gingerdead Man?

The Gingerdead Man (2005)

Starring Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon and Point Break), Robin Sydney (The Lost and Evil Bong) and Ryan Locke (American Gun and The New Twenty)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

I found this in a box set of the Puppet Master. I don't know why thou, I think considering Puppet Master 1 and 2 and Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys was in it. They basically, just added this film because I THINK it was either the same studio, writer or director. But, my first impression was......a gingerbread man.....that kills people. So, it's Chucky The Killer Doll if he was sweeter? I don't know what on EARTH went through someone's mind when thinking of this film. But, I don't wanna judge until I watch the film. But, considering that this film wasn't in the 70s or 80s it was 2005....not even 10 years ago. So, maybe someone around a break table ate a gingerbread man and someone made a joke and boom we have a film. I dunno...

After I Watched The Film?

This must of been the cheesy horror film I have seen. I MEAN.....come on! A gingerbread man that kills people......A GINGERBREAD MAN. I understand the logic for Chucky the Killer Doll, Slappy from Goosebumps, Puppet Master dolls because they have some logic behind the puppets. But, this film was just ridiculous it wasn't a "Ahhhh! Run awayy" horror film and not any tension and it was just a very lacking horror film. I think it was suppose to portray a cheesy film but why make this film? Who would watch this? Unless, your a baker that hates there job! It even says in IMDB "An evil yet adorable Gingerbread man comes to life with the soul of a convicted killed." Okay.....starters how can evil be adorable? Okay yeah, Bedazzled Emily Hurley is hot, Him from the Powerpuff Girls is creepy, Zim from Invader Zim is weird. But, an evil being adorable? It just doesn't happen! You can't have a cute evil it's two opposites. You can't picture Freddy and Jason with a cup of tea then why make this film! The gore was rubbish, the reason for the killing was too plain. If a gingerbread came at you,you just crush it, kick it or even eat it! But.....no. That didn't happen to any of these guys that got killed! It was silly that sums it up. I think what annoys me the most, is the fact THIS IS DONE IN 2005! We have Special Effects that are soooooooo much better than what am showing you below. I am more frustrated with the design of the Gingerbread Man, he isn't more gruesome enough, bloody enough and if IMDB mentions it's adorable. Come on, below isn't adorable or creepy it's just weird. It's not a killer if it's like 2/3 inches of evil just doesn't happen.

Should they make more?

NO! It was just dreadful and it's re-memorable for the wrong reasons. It's a gingerbread man.....that kills people what more can I say. At least Chucky had these one liners before you die. Nope, this Gingerbread Man killing machine just slashed and moved on. But, the bad news is they have already made more of these films. IN FACT, it's a Trilogy! Yeah! They actually put money into these kind of films for a trilogy! I don't know why, or maybe it sold well somewhere in the world I dunno! But, it's rubbish I wouldn't watch it with anyone and I wouldn't recommend this horror unless you like pure cheesiness of a low budget horror with a very low creativity.

So, What's The Bottom line?

Bottom line, if you like your cheesy horrors and low budget as well then give it ago. But, I am saying it is really bad. And, I mean REALLY bad it's good to say "Oh I watched this rubbish film". But, Bottom Line like cheesy horrors with a ridiculous killer than give it a go.

My Rankings

IMDB users gave this film a 3.4 THAT'S GENEROUS. If I could I would give it nothing. Nothing at all made this film enjoyable. I give it a 1 at least for the creativity even thou they weren't being great making it a killing machine.

Here's the IMDB page to find out more about this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364376/
Here is the trailer for this film too:

What's The Bottom Line with Freddy vs. Jason?

Freddy  vs. Jason (2003)

Starring Robert Englund (Phantom of the Opera and Nightmare on Elm Street) Ken Kirzinger (X-Men 2 and Watchmen) and Kelly Rowland (The X Factor and The Fashion Show)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

My first impression would be this is awesome! Two of my favourite psychopathic, distrubing and torturous villains at each others throats. As we know from the film, we have Freddy who's scared of fire, Jason afraid of water. Mask sword killer vs brunt dream killer it should be a really epic and awesome gore film. Plus, be interesting to see how on earth is this going to happen! Considering, Freddy is in the dream world and Jason is in the real world we have to see what kinda of story is going to happen here.

After I Watched The Film?

WHAT WAS THAT! This is the WORST horror film I have ever seen with Jason and Freddy. This has to be one of the worst films in history. They, really messed up the characters and they really made it sound like it was a competition. At the end of the day, Jason doesn't care about competition he cares about if you're on my camp you're dead even if MOMMY tells him too. It was weird, I mean it's not a spoiler Jason only starts killing when he gets a message from his mom, which turns out to be Freddy. I mean.....Don't get me wrong! Isn't it two completely different horror worlds. Freddy never meets Jason. There's even a film where Freddy meets the freaking GHOSTBUSTERS! I mean! COME ON. Plus, not much gore and killings it was just a really really lame and cheesy horror film. I don't know if that's what the directors and writers wanted a really cheesy film. But, come on. We know Freddy can be this goof ball silly serial killer but he does it with STYLE. This film no style.....just a goof ball. And, Jason in this film was just really boring. Not even a great storyline either.

Is It Worth Doing A Second One?

When you see the film, if you do. You know it's open for a sequel. Considering this film went really badly we will have to consider that and a remake won't happen for a while. So, I don't think they will do Freddy vs Jason 2 it will just have bad viewers and since of the first one it won't have a good turn out. It will go straight to DVD. Plus, I can see Robert Englund MAYBE doing Freddy again or someone else. Because, in the remake.....they didn't use Robert Englund so they will have the new guy playing Freddy. So, the main people seeing the Freddy vs Jason 2 would be the people into the cheesy horror. Unless, the trailer suggests it might be a really good serial horror. But, as I said before considering the first one got bad reviews it won't happen.

Thought this image of the two greatest villains was awesome! Great artwork

So, What's The Bottom line?

I would only watch this film, if I get one million dollars for it.....That's the bottom line. Don't watch it unless you just wanna say "Oh yeah, I seen it! It's rubbish".

Tips If Watching The Film?

  1. Make sure you have like a vomit bag to vomit in, because it's SOOOOO BAD you will physically vomit of how rubbish, how destorying and how utterly bad this film is and if your a TRUE horror fanatic you will see the end and think. "WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!".

My Rankings

Well, IMDB users rated this a 5.8 and I only give this film star out of 10.....1. That's it 1 and that's coz the make up looked alright. It's really one of the worst horror films I have ever seen and ruining Freddy for me brought a blood tear to my film fanatic eyes.

Here is the IMDB website to find out more about this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0329101/

Here is the trailer for this....'film'.....I know I given it a bad write up but I love to hear other people's opinions on this film.

Plus, here's the whole fight scene that they do. Maybe, enjoyable. I like it that's it haha

What's The Bottom Line With Ender's Game

Ender's Game (2014)

Starring Harrison Ford (Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark), Asa Butterfield (Hugo and The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas) and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit and 3 Days To Kill)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

I knew nothing about this film at all. The name itself to me suggested it's a long game and in the end one will win and one will lose sort of deal. I knew the major actors in it, not personally off course! I WISH! We have Harrison Ford who ever knows as Han Solo or Indiana Jones so the acting quality is gonna be awesome from him. Also, we have Asa Butterfield which I love his acting in Hugo and The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas he is one of the actors you may not remember the name but know the face instantly. Then, Hailee Steinfeld which is turning into another childhood and hopefully further actor in her career because her acting is more than watch-able.

After I Watched The Film?

Well, I was kinda right and kinda wrong. Basically, think of this film as boot camp but in the future and how suddenly it becomes real. That's how I would describe this film. But, there's great drama that's realistic considering it's a futuristic style of military school. They use lots of strategies to succeed. Ender Wiggin (played by Asa Butterfield) we see how he gets where he is, we see him and how his emotions are balanced and also we see a really intelligent person as well throughout the film and he is a child. But, I enjoyed this film for the sci-fi fantasy reasons for the stunning effects. But, the sci-fi film I found it quite realistic and it could be possible. I always said this, "I LIKE THE POSSIBLE FILMS" something that one day could happen and this film is one of them films. But, it's really good to see how these characters unfold to us as we watch and the games that they have to play as well is something unique to watch if you like a sci-fi film. Plus, the acting is quite good as well and the 'fighting' action packed scenes are really good as well. Also, I didn't credit him but he deserves a shout from me....Ben Kingsley is also in this film and he plays a 'teacher' shall we say. I like all the characters in this film would take me a while to credit them but if you like unique individuals this is a great film to watch.

Could there be room for Ender's Game 2?

If you have seen Ender's Game check this link out http://screenrant.com/enders-game-movie-sequel-fleet-school/ (I go on ScreenRant a lot to get my information, it's a reliable and very accurate site to get your movie knowledge) But, I will say this. I don't think it should be a series simply because I think we won't be as interested because we see Ender in the film grow. And, I don't wanna say anything but considering the ending it won't be as great to a sequel. Maybe, instead of going with the books try and doing the military academy with someone else as the main character. Just something different, where it ended it should end there and that's all am saying.

So, What's The Bottom line?

If you like adventure, action and realistic sci-fi films this is defo for you  and if you like some petty romance then this is for you too. Bottom Line - This is an awesome new sci-fi film and I would recommend it to those that like that kind of film feel and a realistic sci-fi adventure like Zathura. Finally, if you like Star Trek then this is also a film to see because to me it's quite similar to the Star Trek generation environments.

Tips If Watching The Film?

  1. Only tip, you don't need to read the book to watch the film. Like the Harry Potter films, you don't need to read any of the books to watch the film. It's easy to get into.

My Rankings

Well IMDB users across the world, overall the ranking stands at 6.8. Personally, I gave it a 10 when I instantly saw it. However, now on reflection I give it a 9 out of 10 because of one of the scenes really really bugged me haha.

Here is the IMDB page to find out more information about this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1731141/ref_=nv_sr_1

Here is the trailer for the film too, let me know what you think as well. Love to hear some comments.

What's The Bottom Line With Maleficent?

Maleficent (2014)

Starring Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider and Salt), Sharlto Copley (District 9 and Elysium) and Elle Fanning (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Super 8)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

I was quite excited about this film and curious is it gonna be the same like the old film or they gonna fill in the gaps so to speak. I was curious how Angelina Jolie which I know from Tomb Raider is going to play this film. Plus, before I went to see the film I watched some of the interviews and she actually had lessons and taught herself to speak like Malefiecent and know more about the character. Plus, not including animation it's been 4 years since Angelina Jolie has been on the big screen. So, that being said am really excited there's a film where she is back as the main role. Sharlto Copley I watched Elysium a few weeks before seeing Maleficent and I was curious how he play this character of the crow and he also did an interview and he actually studied crows. Which is interesting! I mean, they have actually done a lot of work into there roles before I even went to see the film....so here goes.

After I Watched The Film?

Ya know what Disney....you're really getting good now! Maleficent is truly a great film to watch. We see Maleficent for her and we understand her character more. We feel sorry for her, angry for her, happy for her and we have so many different emotions with this character. The costume itself the change I haven't put any of her younger self in but the change to into this evil force not to be reckoned with is just genius. We see all the characters and even the fairies in this film is fabulous. They are CGI but they are amazing in this film the three good fairies really had great competition considering we have seen them and they need to portray that silliness on screen. Angelina thou had a huge task in this film, we have to see her for herself and she had to be mysterious at the same time. But, overall the special effects, acting, action scenes and even the really serious moments are great for Disney fans. Disney is really breaking the barriers if we go to the very start we had Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and now look Maleficent. Disney is really getting modern and getting into what the kids and what the adults want as well. Which for Disney is great, it's not just penguins dancing in paintings, flying elephants, wooden puppets that want to be a boy. This film is truly magical simply because it has a pure storyline, a easy storyline to get into and the characters are that unique but understanding anyone can enjoy this film.

Is It Different To The 1959 Disney Film Sleeping Beauty?

Yes, not completely but about 95% it is completely different which is great. It's like we have Sleeping Beuaty from the fairies and Aurora's point of view. THEN, we have Maleficent a more Maleficent, Crow and Aurora's point of view. It's truly a completely different atmosphere to the other film. It's not as silly as Sleeping Beauty like "Make it blue, make it pink!" which I was like :'( n'awww but then again I personally think if they added that bit in for the fairies it would ruin it completely. Maleficent minions are interesting....completely different from Sleeping Beauty we see who they are and what they look like. As I said before, it's more modern Disney then back in the 1950s/1960s we aren't going for if you look ugly your a villain! Which no one can lie about. Snow White the witch became this crow, maleficent looks evil. Maybe not using the word 'ugly' but stereotypical a bad guy looking person. Like Monstro in Pinocchio we know this whale is bad from the music, the look and the appearance it gives off. So, when we compare Maleficent to Sleeping Beauty we have the same magic that Walt Disney would want but it's modernised for kids and adults to watch.

So, What's The Bottom line?

Must see this SUMMER, it's magical, breath taking and visually inspiring for anyone. It's not just for kids it's for adults too. Must see and really enjoyable and that is the bottom line!

Tips If Watching The Film?

  1. If you still feel like you don't know if you want to watch this film, check the interviews with the cast and director and they will tell you why you should watch this film.
  2. If your a Disney fan, you know the Sleeping Beauty story but listen to Maleficent's side.
  3. Make sure you get the tissues ready at one point, it annoyed me this someone said this certain scene was 'R***' don't wanna say that word. But, depends how you see it. I didn't see it like that it's a kids film
  4. Enjoy the film, really relax and you don't have to think

My Rankings

IMDB users gave this a good 7.4 but I give it a 10 out of 10. Angelina Jolie is back, and visually it's stunning I can't lower it to 9. It's just a great new film for old Disney lovers.

What's The Bottom Line With Justice League: Doom?

Justice League: Doom

Starring Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series), Tim Daly (Wings) and Susan Eisenberg (Justice League)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

I watched this film with my brother Jamie who's married to my sister Karen in America. When it comes to films they really pick well. They pick stuff I like and I even experienced an Anime film called 'Perfect Blue' but that's for another blog! It's epic thou. Ermm, I know about the Justice League in generally like who's in it but never seen them together. I didn't watch the TV show I just went straight into this film and I was slightly excited because I like animation because they can do more than live action films.

After I watched the film?

Interesting pick of villains! We have Bane (Batman's foe), Cheetah (Wonder Woman's foe), Metallo (Superman's foe), Star Sapphire (Green Lantern's foe), Mirror Master (Flash's foe), Ma'alea'ak (Green Martin's foe) and then we have the leader Vandal Savage (I love this character because this is the first film I've seen him in and he has a great back story). So, basically this film is about the end of the Justice League. That's not a spoiler I haven't said how or anything but it's interesting seeing these villains. From what I understand Bane isn't the MAJOR villain I would of thought The Joker, Two-Face or Riddler but it was great seeing Bane in a film. Metallo was excellent, first experience with this villain am not a huge DC Hereos more Marvel (sorry readers haha). Star Sapphire I do know some about and it was interesting seeing her in this film. Cheetah, hmm I remember watching Wonder Woman TV Show and I remember her she was one of the major ones but it was good. This film is well worth watching, we see how would the Justice League cope. AND, there's even a twist of who made these plans to get rid of the Justice League. I REALLY wanna tell you so SPOILER ....... Batman made the plans, so that if the Justice League EVER and I mean EVER went to the side of evil then this is a way to stun them. But, we find out Vandal Savage uses it much more seriously.

END OF SPOILERS! So, I would recommend this to ANY DC fan, animation fan or even the ones that are curious about this film. Because, the animation is quite beautiful to watch itself it's DC they really care about there animation and take time making this film you can just tell how much effort has gone into this film just watching the trailer below.

Can I See This Happening In A Live Action Film?

Maybe similar, but never the same. Let's see where we are. We got the Superman VS Batman film. Yes? And, Wonder Woman is in it as well. And, there's a Flash film and they are making a Justice League film. BUT, I have to say no. Simply because they won't do this film exactly. The station isn't even built yet. Batman and Superman aren't 'Best Buds' yet. Green Lantern am unsure if they are keeping Ryan Reynolds but they could just do a reboot. Wonder Woman looks more today's modern super hero not this one I have seen in this film. I would like to see Mirror Master, Bane (already done but would be nice to see....doubt it thou), Metallo thou if they did do this film or in a different film would be great. Plus, since Wonder Woman is in Batman VS Superman is one of her villains going to be in this? PLUS, we haven't met Green Martian or Cyclops yet! There's loads if you watched the Justice League TV Show there's like 150 superheroes I know it's in the hundreds! But, I haven't looked to much into the Batman VS Superman. But, I can see Lex Luthor the only way I can see is Superman mistakes Bruce Wayne as Lex Luthor and then boom Batman appears! Haha. But, who knows? Apart from the writers clearly. Plus, if they did redo the film with these villains I think they would have to change the plot because there's no sense just redoing the exact film to the animation film. No sense at all. However, we also see different villains in this film that we haven't seen yet especially at the beginning. But, I can only see this film happening in about 6/7 years at the earliest if it ever happens or something similar like this to get all the characters out in the open. Plus, I think it would be pretty awesome to see Vandal Savage in a film because he is a very interesting villian with a great backstory. He has the intelligence of Professor X in X-Men and the wealth of Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor tripled!

RANDOM FACT ABOUT DC HEROES!

The Joker in the animation 'stuff' is the same guy who plays Luke Skywalker....yes...Luke Skywalker the lightstaber Jedi master is also The Joker in Batman series animated..

So, What's The Bottom Line?

Here's the bottom line readers, if you like DC hereoes and actually see the Justice League maybe get killed.....this is for you! This film has a great storyline, amazing DC heroes and also we see the Justice League before the live film haha. That's the bottom line, "MUST WATCH" simple.

Tips if watching the film?

  1. Watch the film and don't do ANY research into it. I didn't and I enjoyed it more
  2. Afterwards, if you're interested in knowing more about the villains go right ahead.
  3. Make sure you have popcorn and a drink at the ready because some scenes are quite tense!
  4. Remember it's animation so you won't see Ben Affleck as Batman.....yet!

My rankings

Well, I agree with this rating IMDB users gave this film a solid 7.4 a very good rating for an animated film. I personally, gave it a 10 out of 10 because it's like seeing the live film. It has action, a great storyline and villains I really enjoyed it and if your a DC fan too you'll enjoy this film too

What's The Bottom Line With The Number 23

The Number 23 (2007)

Starring Jim Carrey (Bruce Almighty and Ace Venture), Virginia Madsen (Sideways and Candyman) and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and The Perks of Being Wallflower)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

have to admit, I thought it be a comedy because the only thing I remember seeing Jim Carrey really serious is The Truman Show which was a Drama and The Cable Guy that one seen it's like a horror film. But, I generally thought if Jim Carrey did a great performance in The Truman Show what's stopping him from doing a great horror film? I remember seeing this at a DVD shop for £3:00 around 2008. So, it's been out for a while and I thought £3 I ain't losing much money if it's a rubbish film. But, the artwork on the front was cool so there has been thought into the process and understanding of the film. Plus, going to the artwork with the number 23 written all over Jim Carrey's face we already know before even watching the film that's it's about obsession over something....the number 23? Why is it so relevant? It's going to be interesting because from Ace Venture we know he has this crazy persona but can he tone that into a Thriller crazy type of person or we gonna see the same old Jim Carrey Ace Venture GOOF BALL!....we shall see.

After I Watched The Film?

Wow, Jim Carrey has done it again and in a good way! This film is really a great film to watch if you like your thrillers, psychological confusion and my main reason it makes sense. It's not like half way they changed the plot, everything flows and everything makes sense from beginning to end. Yeah, there's an awesome twist which I wanna say but I won't! But, this film if your a Jim Carrey fan it would be great to talk about in your collection. Plus, when we consider as well we have Virginia Madsen who also plays a great character in this film she has already been in Candyman! A great classic horror film (If you haven't seen that it's like Bloody Mary but it's a man with a hook! and no it's not Peter Pan at all!) She plays the wife in the film and the relationship we see throughout the film alters but not by much. There is a lot of psychological mumble jumble meaning that you really get to see Jim Carrey's character mainly and others in a different state which is what I love about this film. It's like The Shining but with numbers! Well, one number.....23

So, Did Jim Carrey Alone Make This Film?

That's a hard question to really answer. I think if it was just him clearly it wouldn't have the same impact as the film we see today. We see him project his emotions through people and it either bounces off or flows like a normal human being! But, then again what is normal? I think if it was someone else I wouldn't write about this film but considering it's a different side of Jim Carrey I've seen him in Man on the Moon, Ace Venture, The Truman Show, The Cable Guy and off course Bruce Almighty but this film really shows a different side to him. Plus, I like to think that to make a good film or just a decent film you need more than one actor to make it good. For example, Mrs. Doubtfire YES! Robin Williams made this film but it couldn't be possible without the kids like Mara Wilson from Matilda or even Pierce Brosnan who played the little villain but considered to be a good guy to some. So, I think Jim Carrey made this film to a Hollywood film but the others supported the film to give it that balance of a decent film.

So, What's The Bottom Line?

If you like your messed up films with a crazy twist then this if for you. Bottom Line? That's it! It's a must see thriller and it's unusual to see Jim Carrey like this and it's also comforting because he is keeping his options open not just to comedy but to thrillers too!

Tips if watching the film?

  1. Don't judge the film because Jim Carrey is in it, before you watch the film. His acting is different and it's quite a serious disturbing film if you like your thrillers.
  2. I wouldn't pay attention to EVERYTHING just watch and enjoy am sure you can figure out the twist.....who am I kidding! You really have to watch the film to get the twist. I don't think anyone would of got the twist unless you read the book.
  3. This film has no Oscars but it has had 5 nominations so that alone should convince you this is a good film to watch with someone or on your own.

My rankings

IMDB users and I don't get on! Haha they rated a good 6.4 and I rated it a 10 out of 10. I know am like this with most films but listen.....Jim Carrey in a different light, a great twist, great acting, good suspense what more can I ask for? That's what I like in this film and there wasn't one bit I thought "OH SNAP, THEY SHOULDN'T DO THAT!" NO! To me, it's all good but that's my opinion.
