Which Actors/Actresses Could Play The Live Disney/Pixar Villains?
Introduction
We here in That's The Bottom Line was thinking of all the great actors/actresses that played remarkable Disney villains.....From Glenn Close as Cruella DeVille in 101 Dalmations, Angelina Jolie as Maleficent in Maleficent and Helena Bonham Carter as The Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland to Tim Curry as Long John Silver in Muppets Treasure Island. But, this got us thinking what or more to the point who would we want on our screens? So, we have 10 Disney/Pixar villains and what we believe, would be ideal role for that actor. Therefore, no time to waste and here's our 10! Including, stories involving in the film and why we chose this actor/actress.
1) Jafar from Aladdin played by Ben Kingsley
Let's be honest now, Ben Kingsley actually looks a bit like Jafar and from another film he played a villain called 'The Hood' in Thunderbirds. Ben Kingsley can truly perform wonders and spectacular performance with Jafar, and the fact Jafar is nearer the end the oldest between the other cast for example older than Aladdin/Jasmine and not as old as the Sultan. But, what would the film involve? Personally, we never really knew where Jafar got his sorcery and was watching Family Guy and never noticed they make references to Jafar.....So, this got me thinking....maybe! Just MAYBE! Jafar is a slave. Not, whilst being in the palace but started in the streets just like Aladdin because we never hear Jafar with family or friends, therefore a lone wolf. Am thinking, the Sultan bought Jafar at the slave market and started from the bottom and when Jafar saw Jasmine for the first time he must have her. So, he tried everything until he found a passion for books and stumbled across some magic books about love potions. Personally, we think that's why he is all into power and wanting to own the kingdom and the world to show Jasmine he is more than what appears. That's The Bottom Line will be doing a separate blog about who else would be in this film! But, we thought Luke Pasqualino as Aladdin, Mila Kunis as Jasmine, Daniel Breaker as Genie, Andy Serkis as Abu, Nick Frost as Iago and John Goodman as the Sultan. Just let that settle in for a second and let's move to the next one.
2) Hades from Hercules played by James Woods
Honestly, for the performance level, the age of Hades and his comedy jokes it just has to be James Woods. Yes, he has already done it but personally we wouldn't decide on anyone else that would look suitable to play Hades. However, the live action film would mainly focus on Hades before Hercules was born, and afterwards. Yes, we know the stories but surely Hades had other things to do? Because, from the Disney film we know that Zeus made Hades in charge of the underworld. BUT, what about before that? Personally, we would find it interesting seeing the transformation like how did Sulley and Mike meet in Monsters Inc and how they became best friends. We could see Hades maybe being the underdog and maybe the Hero at some point! But, that's our idea here.
3) Mad Madam Mim from Sword and the Stone played by Betty White
Now, this was something we didn't think of straight away! At first, we were thinking Kathy Bates but in some way Mad Madam Mim has to seem innocent in some way and vulnerable. So, then we thought about the ageing of Merlin being similar so we have to find an older comical actress.....Betty White. Considering we know from Sword in the Stone, Merlin and Mad Madam Mim knew each other before Arthur flew in....literally. So, maybe Mad Madam Mim is an old lover of Merlin? But, they did duel so maybe it's a relationship went wrong or they both went to wizard school and she was the trouble maker. OR, completely turn the story and show Merlin the trouble maker turned wise and wonderful. Maybe, show Mad Madam Mim's story because we never knew all this answers to questions and personally find it interesting finding out.
4) Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog played by Uzo Aduba
NOW, before we say anything Dr. Facilier yes is a male character however....Consider this, you need someone that can go into that voodoo place properly, have that level of charisma, charm, and seduction but then can go into completely crazy, absurd and loony. Uzo Aduba is someone very well known in Orange is the New Black playing Crazy Eyes. But, we decided to change the role simply because we find it more interesting voodoo can mean a lot of things and comes down to supernatural and funky mumble jumble. So, this film would show Dr. Facilier's life and maybe he/she is the hero....being manipulated by his/her friends on the 'other side'. However, we felt Uzo Aduba could give this role some incredible and extraordinary performance of being completely crazy and funk out the character. But, yes it's a different gender but we feel it doesn't really matter because maybe there's a reason for this? Maybe, Dr. Facilier got out of how he lets say 'exit the film' (if you haven't seen it yet). And, when Dr. Facilier comes back he is now female. I mean, they did to Captain Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean no one is ever dead! So, something different would really make an audience member think.
5) Madame Medusa from The Rescuers played by Lisa Kudrow
You're either a "YES" or "I don't know" to this one. But, when we were researching and looking into the character of Madame Medusa and who could play her.....Lisa Kudrow no doubt. Why? Well, Lisa Kudrow is most famous for her role in Friends and has just started The Comeback Season 2. Why for Madame Medusa thou? Madame Medusa is a sassy, wannabe famous, rich, popular and greedy woman but the looks on her aren't that great! Her make up slapped on and has a tall figure. Lisa Kudrow could look terrible and truly perform absolute raves on Madame Medusa. Our thoughts is that, the film would be looking into Madame Medusa from the beginning because we never really know what happens to her in the end.....But, would be interesting if in her past life had a lover, just to see how she degraded herself into a spinning black hole.
6) Ursula the Sea Witch from Little Mermaid played by Queen Latifah
Do I really need to explain my reasoning?!?! Queen Latifah is just an awesome singer, actress and she can hit those notes that Ursula the Sea Witch hits! Queen Latifah what made my decision is the fact she's been in Hairspray and Chicago and what those two musicals have in common is that their....up beat....jazzy....and I think the correct word is atmosphere. When you watch Hairspray or Chicago you get the feel of a true performance which I feel is one of the main reasons Queen Latifah would suit Ursula, and Ursula is a dark, seductive, not beautiful but she thinks she's beautiful sea creature. And, considering she wants so many desires would really suit in Queen Latifah's persona. The story line however.....I would keep it to the context of Little Mermaid but make it much more darker for the audience. Having the same atmosphere that you feel when watching the third Pirates of the Caribbean film and having those oceans and under the sea. I think it would look incredible considering the special effects, we could see the 'Under The Sea' song looking purely beautiful to the point of Finding Nemo effects, and then Ursula's dark moments seeing the darkness of the sea would look stunning.
7) Henry J. Waternoose III from Monsters Inc. played by John Noble
Before anyone comments anything, I thought what if Monsters Inc. was live action? It can be done, I mean look at Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, Labyrinth, and Dark Crystal and even Disney's Muppets Treasure Island but I have to remember we are now in 2015 and most people would think this is a bad idea....Because, Monsters Inc. will stay as a animated series because of the pure magic you feel what Pixar can accomplish, all I know what can be close to a live action is the Monsters Inc. ride. Anyway! Why, did I feel Henry J. Waternoose III should be played by John Noble? Well, if you're unfamiliar by the name from TV series he is in Fringe and Sleepy Hollow. But, his film credits is more interesting as he has been in Lord of the Rings, Risen and The Last Airbender. Plus, he has been in some video game credits as well! But, why do we feel he would make a good Henry J. Waternoose? We have seen him perform in Fringe and Sleepy Hollow and the acting ability he has is quite dark. So, that being said Henry J. Waternoose already needs to be some what oldish, but have that dark mind and can get angry quickly and snap. But, what would the film in tale? WELL, personally we feel this could be an incredible eye opener for the Monster Inc. fans.....What if.....Henry J. Waternoose has a broken heart? When they take Henry J. Waternoose away the agency, Roz interviews him. So, that starts the whole story of him and maybe since of the quite higher class name we go into the first stages of the company. Maybe, he fallen in love with someone that was having this idea that children are the future but in the good way. But, then someone or something happens to Henry J. Waternoose maybe his father tells him a secret, someone dies closest to him (it's Disney Pixar they did it with Up), OR the girl that he fell for was only interested in him to make him shut down the company. So, we see more of Henry J. Waternoose side and in some way we can relate to him. Therefore, the reason he wanted the screams was hiding his true feelings that his heart was broken and to fill that hole was pure hatred for children the opposite of what the girl that got away wanted. Personally, we feel it could work with the correct writers behind it and be more interesting seeing the more 'human/monster' side of Henry J. Waternoose.
8) Charles F. Muntz from Up played by Patrick Stewart
If you haven't seen Up yet, Pixar truly made something wonderful. Charles F. Muntz is the bad guy in the film, he is an inventor, explorer and graves that one species to make him 'top dog' (if you don't understand the reference apologizes). But, who could truly play is well mannered, corrupted, controlling, crazy gentleman. Patrick Stewart. Patrick Stewart is really well known for being Professor Xavier in X-Men, Captain Picard in Star Trek: Next Generation and his voice appearances in American Dad, Family Guy, Robot Chicken and The Simpsons. But, why pick Patrick Stewart.....if you really want to know why, he with the moustache could really play Charles F. Muntz and it's a role more suited to Patrick Stewart as well. We have seen Patrick Stewart truly take leaps in his acting career but seeing him in a live action film of Up would add something to his portfolio. But, would the live action film be the same as the Pixar film? Personally, we feel it would be darker and much more interesting seeing Charles F. Muntz even thou we know most of what he did, we never really saw the dangers and sacrifices he had to go through. It's like Monsters University, you want to see how he became obsess and maybe seeing his flashback when he falls of his life? Because, we never see what happens to Charles F. Muntz so be interesting seeing him turn hero from villain.
9) Lady Tremaine from Cinderella played by Helen Mirren
Lady Tremaine is the Evil Stepmother in Cinderella and we know her being manipulative, wanting the treasures and being treated like royalty. But, who could play a good and dark Lady Tremaine? Helen Mirren. If you're unsure on the name she was in The Queen, Monsters University and Hitchcock. She looks the part, she can portray this very evil person from her past film experience. But, this film we feel would be showing the hard ache Lady Tremaine had to go through. We know that the Father either left or died 'unexpectedly' all the Cinderella stories are different. But, we thought let's see how Lady Tremaine got to this dark place....Maybe, she had this fella once but he cheated on her. Plus, she has got two 'ugly' daughters so where did they come from? It's not from this arrangement it's from another. So, we feel here in That's The Bottom Line we need to see the transition of maybe this loving and caring person to someone that is truly corrupted on greed and power. But, the film....We don't know why but we wanted something Alice in Wonderland Tim Burton style....Personally, we feel that's how Lady Tremaine sees life, very unusual to our eyes and let's be honest it would look stunning and it could have some interesting twists involve. Maybe, it's all the wrong way....The Fairy Godmother is a street performer, Cinderella is a waitress, Ugly Step Sisters is a comedy act and Lady Tremaine is the main singer. Maybe, where this is set is in a theatre/saloon/bar something to really show a difference with the whole concept of Cinderella.
10) Professor Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective played by Johnny Depp
Let's be honest this is a long shot but it's doable considering we have Into The Woods, Alice in Wonderland and even Maleficent we have seen creatures come to life. But, who is Professor Ratigan? Well, before we say anything we feel The Great Mouse Detective is truly an under-rated Disney film, it's basically Sherlock Holmes for the kids. Professor Ratigan is truly a quirky unusual villain. Professor Ratigan, loves power, loves greed, and is very smart to the level of Sherlock Holmes. But, to the better question why Johnny Depp? To be honest, we feel because of Johnny Depp's track record with quirky and very unusual characters he play from Willy Wonka in Charlie in the Chocolate Factory to The Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. We feel Johnny Depp, can add something different of being Professor Ratigan and be unusual seeing him sing in a musical number. But, the appearance of Johnny Depp and the level of acting Johnny Depp can accomplish would truly give Professor Ratigan justice.
So, What's The Bottom Line?
