What's The Bottom Line special Murderous Mondays presents John 'Jigsaw' Kramer

presents

John 'Jigsaw' Kramer

Introduction

This blog is looking at the mind and the person of John Kramer....who? We all know him as something else, he cuts a jigsaw piece into his 'victims' and he loves to play a good old game with them. That's right, Jigsaw. The saw franchise has amazed and awe us with the unique traps, devices, games and above all the actor playing Jigsaw Tobin Bell's performance is so speechless and perfect for him. So, what keeps Jigsaws together? We will find out in this blog, but who exactly is John Kramer?

Who Is John 'Jigsaw' Kramer?

Before the whole Jigsaw character, he was actually just like you and me, he was a normal person, living a normal life, with a wife and soon to be born child into the normal world we live in. But, that all changed when the baby was lost, the man we know as John Kramer as most individuals in the whole world get, he gets cancer....So, whilst others deal with it 'normally' I hate that word but in this situation we have to consider normal isn't John Kramer or very normal in his eyes. He had a situation or event happened to him, and he actually tried a very cruel and life threatening suicide but he still lives..... And, this was just the first foot step away from John Kramer and the man you all love or hate Jigsaw. He is the judgement passing on the conviction, the result of the sentence thou is up to the person in the chair, or in this situation the heart of the games.

The YouTube video is called: SAW VI - Jigsaw Revealed

I love this YouTube video because we go so much into Jigsaw but also Tobin Bell. I didn't know that he actually writes most of the dialogue he made Saw II because we know more about him. Tobin Bell to some in that case could be a pain. But, he works hard for his character and he loves playing Jigsaw/ John Kramer. The dialogue, people were worried in SAW II because it's the detective and Jigsaw scenes were just pure dialogue and people thought be bored. But, honestly we understand Jigsaw more, and we don't feel sorry for him we actually in some sick twisted way we understand him! Tim Bell and Betsy Russell who play 'Jill' (his wife) they actually went to diner and understand each other characters more. That's one reason why we kind of understand Tim Bell's character and the whole family and victims because they go into so much depth of there characters. Tim Bell even has a note book looking into every detail of his character. Then, Shawnee Smith who plays the amazing 'Amanda' for SAW III her and Tim Bell walked the streets and went over lines. All ths AND MORE in that YouTube video. So, I feel this video is actually hugely importantly because we understand how Tim Bell gets into Jigsaw and then we understand how John Kramer scrambles the pieces for a perfect fit for Jigsaw. John Kramer has thoughts of philosophy, religion, science, engineering, and he is amused by the human condition. Thereby, we see all this in the films and we see it in his creations of traps.

Why Does He Test People?

YouTube video called: Saw - From John Kramer to Jigsaw (For Whom the Bells Toll)

This is what I was literally just talking about, but we are now seeing Jigsaw. We have seen the transformation just through the video above. But,we still see that power with John Kramer we are now seeing Jigsaw and what he sees. He gets people in there games, not his games, he just makes the games and designs the game for the individual. I think Jigsaw uses more intelligence he thinks, he's an observer like John Kramer. But, the line he tests "the fabric of the human nature" "good doesn't lead to good and bad doesn't leave to bad, people lie and cheat and get elected" "people that don't appreciate life doesn't deserve life." All this in this video. But, let's look at "the fabric of the human nature". To me, that sounds like Jigsaw wants to test people because the human condition is like a fabric. Fabric that can be torn apart at any time. But, what if you have the tool like scissors 'the devices he uses' and you have a choice either avoid the scissors or the scissors will cut you in pieces. Jigsaw, I think when thinks went wrong for him in his life, he decided that no matter what you do with you're life you can never be good or bad. Everybody gets tested on the value of the human life. And, I think that's the main reason he tests people in his point of view because he has justified it. But, we have to question which leads to another question is he good or bad?

SPECIAL looking into how they did the needle pit in Saw II

The YouTube video is called: SAW II making of The Needle Scene

There's actually loads of videos like this for the SAW franchise, but the main one that got me interested was the needle scene. We all went "ahh" if you have a needle problem and "ooh" if you thought it was awesome. But, this video explains everything of how they did the needle scene, what they had to do to Shawnee Smith and what the make up team had to do to her to give her that look. Going to say, that the most shocking was the fact they used 20,000 needles then more needles to 40,000 needles. AND THEN, 60,000 but overall 120,000 needles in that pit. If you ever wondered how many needles were in that pit there you go. 120,000 needles. They are real needles, they take out the needle and replace it. I would seriously check out this video because I learned so much from the horror movie making magic shall we say from ONE video, then a entire documentary.

What Does Tobin Bell Think of Jigsaw?

The YouTube video is called 'Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) talks about "Saw VI"

He loves the character and the first few things he say, makes what Jigsaw makes and he loves the original concept of Jigsaw. Tobin Bell if you think this is all he is in,he is in all sorts I would check out what else he has done. But, Tobin Bell does his homework and the script he makes sure that he keeps Jigsaw fresh. That's debatable to a lot of people because there's loads of them now. This is for SAW VI, but in this interview we see different sides of Jigsaw and we like seeing Jigsaw. The video above looks into that film and looks into the stories and characters. BUT, I think Tobin Bell plays Jigsaw because most actors love having fun, and he loves working on this character and doing homework. We know every Saw film has twists and I think Jigsaw even when he dies he sets them up already.

Is Jigsaw Evil Or A Hero?

I know this will just sound insane. But,in all serious I think he is a hero. I know he kidnaps people, puts them in devices. But, let's just go to the idea he has. He is putting people that take the actual life you lead, to the test. I disagree anyone should judge how you live your life. BUT, he uses it when people misuse something, murder someone, or something injustice to him. You are set on a game. I think he doesn't kill them. We have seen it happen where people live,it is possible you have to physically go past the pain barrier. If you want to live that much, wouldn't you do ANYTHING to make sure if you survive the game you will live life better, more healthier and appreciate your life. And, I think that's the key messages we have in the Saw films. Yes, you could live "THAT BLOOD SCENE WAS AWESOME!" But, it does make you think how you live your live and how you portray yourself when you're alive. I do see that he has evilness inside him, because we have seen these traps but that to me shows engineering, intelligence and I think he even makes the traps personal to the victims because in some ways they are relevant to them. So, if you do live the game you have personal experience from living but you have conquered your fears.

So, What's The Bottom Line?

Here's something to think about, when we see Tobin Bell in interviews and when we see him in other films. Do we see John Kramer? Is Tobin Bell, Jigsaw? Lets just consider the concept of John Kramer to Jigsaw, as we know and I know anything is possible. Everybody has a human condition that taps into the brain of unlimited potential/ So, bottom line.....Who's the next Jigsaw?

  1. What set Jigsaw from the others that act like him on the series of films is that he give the person a way to get out and able to win. I feel he is not good and not bad but he is interesting a a enjoyable charter to watch in the series (why I keep watching the films even if I watched first saw then sixth saw then I got the boxset of them all). Plus there are the games which there are two but I not know if they are before or where in the time line they are in. Saw as to be my fav film/s as they have the mental things and so much as well as you can keep watching them again and again and think how you yourself would do so.
An awesome Blog this one is but I think is my fav of the ones I have read up to now :D
