What's The Bottom Line With Hare and Hounds in Werneth Low in Tameside

Chef and Brewer Hare and Hounds
Lunch Meal on 11th September 2014
Location: Werneth Low

We ordered the following, and I have added images from the actual meal to show you what gets presented to the public.

Pan Fried Duck + Sweet Chilli Noodles

Price: £13:99
Description: Breast of duck served pink on a bed of egg noodles, fresh mango, spring onion and coriander, tossed in a sweet chilli sauce. Served with wilted pak choi and sesame seeds.

Overall: It was AMAZING! I have never had so good nooodles ever. They weren't greasy, the crispiness from the noodles was delicious, the flavours were just amazing and I asked for my duck to be well done and it was. I didn't see any pink, it was all done so good. The duck had loads of flavour, the juicies and fat from the duck with the sweet chilli sauce really brought out the intensity from the various elements used in the dish. And, it didn't take long! The flavour of the meal actually felt like a Chinese dish in a restaurant. And, the price is reasonable too it's duck breast so you have to think of the price of meat, the exotic Chinese vegetables as well. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves Chinese food, duck and noodles because it was just perfect.

Sea Bass and Seared Scallops

Price: £12:99
Description: Two lightly grilled sea bass fillets and pan-fried scallops served over a delicate crayfish, pea and chive risotto

Overall: The meal looks exciting, the risotto was done to perfection which in some areas I've had the risotto has been over cooked or under cooked but here was just spot on! The scallops were done to perfection! Gordon Ramsay would moan for these scallops! They were so good. The fish fillet was done to excellence and the vegetables that was in the dish really balanced the flavours of the whole dish. Again,it didn't take long to come out and it was hot which is always a must at these prices! But, honestly really creamy texture with the fish and has a wholesome after taste leaving you wanting more.

Smoked Haddock and Gruyere Fishcake

Price: £7:49Description: Served with chips, your choice of minted or mushy peas and tartar sauce.

Overall: Looking at the picture you think, that's nothing. But, the fishcakes were made by hand, the fish was fresh, it was hot, the timing of all the food came at once. The chips were all golden and brown. The peas were fresh and not frozen and from a past experience from Wetherspoons, the Tartar sauce didn't look alien or toxic! That's a bonus! Honestly, thou this meal looks so simple but has so much flavour to have, sometimes the simple looking meal is the best meal.

Bottom Line?

The service was sooo lovely, the waitress was helping everyone, she made sure our drinks was filled up? she even asked us how was the meal? do we need any sauces? It was just so excellent service and she was friendly to talk too as well. When we were having desserts she even helped an elderly woman to her seat. Now, that right there is service that is a must in a restaurant/pub the people working there, are there for you. Overall, I give this food an excellent 10 out of 10! It was just brillaint and tasted wonderful. HIGHLY,recommend. Bottom Line? It's a bit tricky to find, it's in the last place you think but I would highly say try this at any time you can. It's a must to try in Tameside
