Introduction
This is an exclusive interview with the artistic designer Claire Doyle and myself....we are looking at silly questions, serious questions, creative questions and just seeing where it leads. All these answers and questions were on the spot, once we had an answer we jump to another one. We hope you enjoy what you're about to read.
Question 1: What makes an artist?
Claire: Someone that can have a passion or a dream or to teach an audience and use some form of stimulation to teach people what they want to know or not know.Edward: Honestly, I think we all have the ability to be some ways creative. For example, a psychopath has a way of seeing blood-lust a form of beauty, which could be said is a form of art to them. So, when a murder is slashing someone's through to him that is pure, therefore an art form to him. And, I see everybody as an artist, it's just the format of how your art expands towards people.
Question 2: Who's An Under-rated Artist?
Claire: Bob Flannagan, he's a performance artist and he enjoys paint not only visually but sexually. But, he uses his performance through this and has been dying for years. But, not enough people know about him in the live art worldEdward: My artist is a lot more YouTube based. It's a channel called "Dating A Puppet" and I think this is quite underrated considering what's out there. There all short and simple but it's capturing the very essence of what puppetry can achieve, which to me is bringing life to an non-living object. There's so much comedy in this YouTube channel and I prefer this channel then The Muppets! That's how far I will go on that! Underneath is a YouTube clip on Dating A Puppet.
Question 3: Who's An Under Rated Actor/Actress?
Claire: Ezra Miller, because when I saw We Need To Talk About Kevin, and he plays a brilliant psychotic character and quite critical and unusual character.
Edward: Jeff Goldblum, I have mainly seen him in Jurassic Park 1 + 2 and I want to see more of him hit the blockbuster screens! His acting is simple but brilliant, he can play the comical character, serious character, angry character! Whatever! I just think he is really underrated considering he is a brilliant actor.
Question 4: Under-rated film?
Claire: Funny Games by Michael Haneke, it's a really good horror but it's an original german that's the one people see.Edward: Perfect Blue, not suitable for kids. But, it is such an amazing film. People tell me it's like a film Alfred Hitchock and Walt Disney would do if they had to do a film together....and it is! Visually stunning. I completely forgot I was watching an anime. The mind f*** is just brill, the twists are great and the characters are brilliant. A must see film if you like your mentally scarring and silent "wow" films.
Claire: There isn't a meaning personally as humans we have theories to go through but lets just get on with it, we will never know. No one will EVER have the answer. There's no meaning so leave it.
Edward: The meaning of life, is the answer to a more important question. Who says what is the meaning of life? I think the meaning of life is however you see your life with whatever meaning you have behind it.
Question 6: What's the weirdiest theory, religion, film anything you heard of?
Claire: German dance company called Tosh.o and this piece is called Metal Crutch it's a piece of performance art and the video is below:Edward: Pastafarian, it's a very weird religion/cult where basically they believe of wearing bandanna, believe that there god is called Ramen. And, that Ramen is a flying spaghetti monster in the sky too. And, heaven is beer volcanoes and strippers and that on every opportunity you should wear a bandanna. Plus, your spiritual day isn't Sunday it's Friday. So, for religious reasons of being Pastafarian you can get Friday off work. The video below is about Pastafarian.
Question 7: Define art to you in one word then expand?
Claire: Teaching, my way of art is teaching humans that there body is acceptable. .Edward: Experimental. Considering we look at art and have different answers or the same answers for a piece of art I think at the end of the day art is always going to be experimental. We don't know how it will be to people so thereby it's an experiment to see what the public likes or not like. Regardless of popularity, if we take the Mona Lisa for example back then when it was made it was experimental. Thereby, today we see more experiments done with art and more discovery.
Question 8: Worst popular film ever?
Claire: Suckerpunch, thought the visual wise was great but concept was very sexualized and cringe it was just AHHH! I thought it be epic, about adventure, women exploring but was just too sexuality with the female body.Edward: Before I get the shocks, I am actually a LOVER of The Muppets. I have seen every single movie they have ever done.....BUT THIS! WHAT IS THIS! It was the worst Muppet film ever. The plot was just silly, the musical numbers were really lacking something, the characters weren't them really. Plus, I felt it lost contact a lot with what they originally were which was 'Muppets'. I felt like they just did a Muppet movie because they could, not because they wanted too.
Question 9: What would you say to God if you went to heaven?
Claire: Am I safe hereEdward: Really? I made it! Would of thought it be cleaner
Question 10: What would you say to the Devil if you went to hell?
Claire: Fuck you, fuck off.....hello damnation.Edward: Is it hot in here or is it just me?
Question 11: Is there a God?
Claire: I like to think there is because of how I was raised of being a Catholic however! am not really confident in that at all. And, don't really have an opinion...."But, here in THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE everyone has an opinion!"
Edward: I am going to say, that think about this. Where did the word 'God' come from, I think there must of been a reason we use this word to think of someone to be a God or thee God. But, I have to say instead of there being a God I think there is someone maybe higher than us because throughout our lives we do have someone higher than us can go to royalty, historical figures and celebrities shall we say. And, then it goes on and on and on until at the top we have this big question mark. Which, I think is what God is suppose to be. Someone at the top of the chain like in the animal kingdom.
Question 12: If you had to pick one Super power what would it be?
Claire: Flames coming from me, everywhere....like EVERYWHERE! I am flame and hot and spicy!Edward: The ability to time travel, cut the whole "you might change the future". I would just love to meet Historians, celebrities and just jump around not getting involved. Like, having a cup of tea in England when it was first made. Or, watching Leonardo Da Vinci paint the Mona Lisa.
Question 13: What could make this world better in one word?
Claire: AcceptanceEdward: No form of money, so anyone and everyone can buy what they want. Companies wouldn't need to pay materials we get them. We wouldn't have to be in debt either.
Question 14: If you wanted to meet someone dead or alive who would it be?
Claire: Marina Abramovic.Edward: Ian McKellen
Question 15: From fictional characters, name three people you would love to be with you on a deserted island?
Claire: Jack (Fight Club) Tyler (Fight Club) and Marla (Fight Club)Edward: The Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland), Olaf (Frozen) and Grumpy (Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs)
Question 16: What's the most inspirational thing you can say to people reading this?
Claire: You are sexy, no matter what they say. It's true! You are what you are.Edward: Don't let anyone tell you what you can or can't do. You decide that, but you have the hardest decision to do and that's making the first step. True, there might be some failure along the line but we learn from our mistakes
Question 17: What have you always wanted to experience?
Claire: Sleep-paralysis, because it sounds like feeling neutral through the body but you have or not have control through your body. And, your always god of your body! and the fact that you are and aren't in control and out of control makes the experience more realistic too.Edward: Life. I believe we never will experience the full potential of what life would actually feel like to maximum. Yes, we can sky dive and fight alligators! But, at the end of the day is that really the maximum we can feel in our life? The thrills and dangers? I would like to experience life and see what mixture of emotions combined would that feel like.
Bottom Line?
The point of this blog, was to show the ways we can discover new or old questions. We did these questions on the spot and we discovered more about each other. So, the bottom line is never assume what you think you may know because in the end everyone has different views, different opinions on anything and that's what makes us so great, being an individual. If you want to read more of THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE blogs, click here:
