Muppets Most Wanted (2014)
Starring Ricky Gervais (The Office and The Invention of Lying) Tina Fey (30 Rock and Mean Girls) and Ty Burrell (Modern Family and Dawn of the Dead)
First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?
I absolutely love the Muppets film, all of them. My favourite is Muppets in Space, I love puppets, musical numbers, bad jokes. This would have to be my secret pleasure because I just love Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy, all of them! And, my all time favourite christmas film is Muppets Christmas Carol. The Muppets are so loved and the cast alone is incredible. Like, Christmas Carol Michael Caine! Michael Caine! And, then we have Muppets Treasure Island and off course TIM CURRY! From the Rocky Horror Picture Show! It's just an incredible franchise so my level of excitement is way up there.
After I Watched The Film?
What was that? NO, seriously what is this? I finished watching this and I just have to think to myself....really? This is probably the worst Muppets film I've ever ever ever seen. The Muppets were okay, they weren't overally funny and Muppet like. But, I just didn't enjoy it. The plot for me was too simple, like at least in some of the Muppets films there's meaning, there's quite complicated plots and great twists. But,this one really lacked something. And, I love Ty Burrell in Modern Family! But, in this he was just utterly ridiculous he wasn't funny,it was more the silent laugh that you hear for a split second. This has to be one of the Muppet films that didn't even get a laugh out of me. I didn't laugh.....at all.... at a muppets film! I really thought it would be better but as the film progressed, my love for the Muppets went down a little bit. NOT MUCH, one bad film won't make me love the Muppets less. But, I did feel so much went into this film and the end result for me didn't even deserve a thumbs up.
Why I Didn't Enjoy This Muppets Film To The Others?
Right, the beginning annoyed me. I am not going to say what they did, but they make it sound like the fans of the Muppets are fake.....you'll understand when you watch it. Plus, the fact that Kermit had this identical frog with a mole on annoyed me a lot. I mean, people should tell which ones which. I felt as if The Muppets writers, made the people watching it sound really dumb down. And, I hate using dumb or stupid but when I watched the film I thought even babies would get this. They dumb it down way down to 1+! = 2 then some thought like 1 + 1 = 2.....OR IS IT? Like having a bit more drama in! I thought the drama was lacking, the script needed so much work into it to make it a decent film. I was shocked and even more disappointed in this film and I wouldn't watch it ever again. Plus, I didn't understand why add songs....I felt like they made so much money in the Muppets film because they haven't done a film in ages. They blew there money on this film and said "lets make more money". I literally thought, they put so much in, they forgot the fundamentals of what is a Muppet....that's saddening and painful to say because I've seen all the Muppets films. But, if there is another one coming out I won't be as excited because The Muppets Most Wanted, is literally the most wanted to stay away from.
So, What's The Bottom Line?
If you like your cheesy, one liners, innuendo film THEN this film is not for you.....this film isn't The Muppets there imposters. The Muppets Most Wanted.....yeah I agree....most wanted in the £1:99 DVD pile. Or even the 99p store because frankly it deserves that. And, it only deserves that because of such iconic characters that's it.
My Rankings
I give this a 10 out of 10.....now if you believed that for a second I will be disappointed. I have ranted about how bad this film is because I am truly a Muppet fan. IMDB users gave this a 6.6 overall. I am going much lower. I give it a 2 out of 10.....a 2! And, it pains me to give characters I love such a low rating.
