WARMTH WEDNESDAYS Whats The Bottom Line With Seven Pounds?

presents

Seven Pounds (2008)

Starring Will Smith (Fresh Prince of Bel Air, I, Robot and Men in Black), Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Death Proof and Grindhouse) and Woody Harrelson (Cheers, Now You See Me and Zombieland)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film?

Right, I love Will Smith in anything and everything and you can't deny it he never ages! From Fresh Prince of Bel Air to After Earth he just doesn't age! I haven't really seen him in much drama thou! I was really interesting in seeing this movie simply because I want to see Will Smith be in a serious drama. No aliens, no robots, no post apocalyptic world! Just a simple, well not simple but interesting serious drama. Rosario Dawson I love her in Grindhouse and Sin City her acting is actually pretty good, personally she needs to be more well known and then we have Woody Harrelson who we all know from loads of films. From Zombieland as the hilarious kicking butt machine with a gun, then a magician in the brilliant Now You See Me. So, the cast looks amazing at the time I think I just saw Hancock which came out in the same year. And, I just remembered he does do serious dramas because he did Pursuit of Happiness (which I still haven't seen!). So, let's get the ball rolling and see what we got....

After I Watched The Film?

When we think of Will Smith, personally we immediately think of Fresh Prince of Bel Air and am telling you watching this film, you don't see the Kid will but you see soooo much emotion and so much love in this film. When it finally finished I ACTUALLY CRIED! Yes, I cry at Pixar films randomly! But, this made me cry. It's suchhh a great film and I never see it coming! Honest, even if I re-watched it and I never seen it before I would still be shocked. I know about certain scenes from people but I love my friends because they don't ruin it. The power in Will Smith's acting is literally hypnotic. You're always watching him, wondering, thinking what's he doing. It's just such a great actor and I think he should do more serious acting! I know he is a great comical actor but I would want him to push more. Woody Harrelson was just great as well, he plays a blind guy in the film and he actually respects and actually did research into the role I believe. But, he has comical scenes, serious scenes and am not being funny this film even has shocking scenes I wouldn't expect Will Smith to do.

Is This A Different Side To Will Smith's Acting?

For me, since I haven't seen The Pursuit of Happiness, I would have to say this is the first film I actually watched Will Smith in and not laughed! He wasn't like an evil guy in it! But, he had a very not neutral but just wasn't serious. There were serious moments but for him it was something magical to watch. Like we feel everything Will Smith's character is going through. If you're a fan of Will Smith I would highly recommend this film to you or to anyone really. Just because, it really opens you're eyes of what Will Smith can do.

So, What's The Bottom Line?

Give this film a shot, if you haven't already. It's slightly longer than I thought however it's worth watching and that's the bottom line.

Tips If Watching The Film?

  1. If you're a cry baby that loves those happy/sad/general endings (see not giving it away) but if Titanic, Notebook made you cry this should too so get the TISSUES!

My Rankings

IMDB rated this a 7.7 overall from the users. So, hmm I give it a really high 8 or low 9, there were some things I would change or some scenes that needed to be taken away or added. But, overall I would say a 8/9 our of 10.
