What's The Bottom Line Looks Into 21 Hidden Facts About Disney Films

20 Hidden Facts About Disney Films

Introduction

I love Disney films and I thought I look at 19 hidden facts that you probably wouldn't know about Disney Films. So, I did my top 20 Hidden Facts that people might not know or even notice when watching these films.

1) Pumbaa from The Lion King is the first character to ever fart.

I have to say I wasn't overally shocked but considering what Disney films they were before The Lion King I would of thought it be earlier. But, it's nice to think that are friend Pumbaa has the award for the first fart ever! Which, let's be honest he deserves I mean he knows how to pack them!

2) Peter Cullen did the voice of Eeoyre and the voice of Optimus Prime from Transformers

I have to admit this did surprise mean, I mean I see Eeoyre as this really sad character and then thinking that's the same voice of Optimus Prime! A kicking butt transformers I mean, you have to admit that really takes great talent to do, two iconic characters.

3) The person who voiced Sebastian in The Little Mermaid also played Mufasa in the Broadway performance of The Lion King

I personally think, this isn't a surprise because I have seen the broadway production of The Lion King and Mufasa does have that characteristic and the voice of Sebastian in The Little Mermaid. But, all in all still a really interesting fact about Disney.

4) "Kingdom of the Sun" was the original title for The Emperor's New Groove

Am really glad they stuck with The Emperor's New Groove, because that's the Emperor. I mean, "The Kingdom of the Sun" to me sounds like a really serious film. And, let's be honest The Emperor's New Groove isn't serious, it has some drama moments but overall it's funny, it's comical, it's hilarious. Am really happy they didn't change the title of the film to that thou.

5) Christian Bale voiced the character of Thomas in Pocahontas.

No wonder we all love Batman! Christian Bale was the handsome guy also in Pocahontas, which I didn't know even if I've seen the film.

6) Christina Aguilera's debut single is actually "Reflections" from Mulan, not "Genie in a Bottle". The latter song was released a year after the former.

I think some people forget that Christina Aguilera did the single of Reflections. Which personally, is the most emotional song in Disney, maybe top 10 because there's loads. But, I didn't know Christina Aguilera sung this song. Which makes me think, she should look back and redo some of her older stuff and revamp it a little.

7) Idina Menzel originally auditioned for a role in Tangled but she was passed over. Her audition made an impression with producers, however, and she was later cast as Elsa in Frozen.

Let's be honest now, we are kinda glad she didn't get Tangled because I think she made Frozen what it was from "Let It Go" which come Christmas, Frozen will probably be on everywhere!

8)The co-director of Frozen, Jennifer Lee, is the first woman to direct a Disney movie.

I think it's about time we see more female directors! We are in 2014 and this is the first woman co-director not even director. I was actually surprised by this, I would of thought Disney would give female directors chances. But, I am glad the first ever female co-director made an impact in the Disney film Frozen!

9) Bea Arthur was originally considered for the voice of Ursula in The Little Mermaid, but the role ultimately went to Pat Carroll.

Pat Carroll makes a great Ursula but I think people forget how voice actors work, they don't have to be female or male as long as they do the voice of how the directors/producers/casting wants the character to sound.

10) Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to ever be nominated in the Best Picture category. The category Best Animated Feature was created years later, in 2001.

I think if you like you're history this would interested you, because considering what they were before Beauty and the Beast, visually Beauty and the Beast deserved Best Picture because it was just stunning. And, it then created into Best Animated Feature which makes sense considering what Animations have won that award.

11) The suppose penis on the original VHS cover of The Little Mermaid was supposedly unintentional. The animator says he was in a hurry to finish it.

Am actually really annoyed at this because the animator said "he was in a hurry" am not being funny. Regardless of how quick you work, or if you are in a rush. You shouldn't of even thought about drawing such profanity on a DISNEY cover. Yeah, the next one links into that but they have an okay reason. But, the animators here say he was in a rush. Which for me, isn't what you get paid for.

12) Additionally, animators say they did not write "SEX" in the stars in The Lion King. Instead, they wrote "SFX" as a signature.

I like the fact that Disney hides messages in there work. But, looking at it now I could see they were trying to do the SFX but again. Why? I don't understand why they had to put the message here, but it's quite a famous hidden message for saying SEX in a Disney film. Funny and inappropriate at the same time considering Simba just lost his dad!

13) Aladdin cut the song "Pride of Your Boy" from the film, but it was later re-added for the Broadway performance.

I didn't know this fact but honestly, I have seen Aladdin as a pantomime and I don't recall this song. I don't know what the song means, I just researched it and I think they tried to do it in the Disney film but am glad it got taken out. It was suppose to be when Aladdin looks at the palace and wants to live there. But, I prefer the speaking part and just looking, it's more Aladdin I think and makes it more realistic.

14) Wreck It Ralph has 180 unique characters.

I actually watched on behind Wreck It Ralph, ages ago on Sky Exclusive and it actually mentioned that the creators created 180 unique characters. And, I had to think and say to myself "That's about right". We saw all the legendary gaming characters and retro characters. Then, we have the gaming station, Sugar Rush land, Wreck It Ralph's environment as well. You have to think it's not only the people but it's the scenery as well. I remember they said when making Sugar Rush they went to a German Candy Factory to see how to make candy, and what type of Candy there is. They really put a lot of effort into making this film.

15) During the song "Out There" in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Belle, Aladdin's magic carpet, and Pumbaa make appearances.

I like it when characters make small appearances in films. You can see Belle which makes some sense because she could just be visiting. The carpet and Pumbaa however I was abit.....wait....how! I am guessing the carpet because thinking about it there's the whole Disney theory, that the Carpet is actually in the right time period. Because, Aladdin is in the future! Boom! Because, think about how does the Genie do all these modern references and jokes if it's not in the future and the Genie said it's been locked up for 500 years or something like that! And, Pumbaa....am stuck on that! Haha. I can't even guess why or what logic would make Pumbaa in this film at all.

16) Tangled's Rapunzel and Flynn Rider attend Elsa's coronation in Frozen

Another one, maybe Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are showing support and linking the country? Maybe, that's what the sequel will hold considering we already know there's a sequel coming out AND we have seen Rapunzel and Flynn Rider before....maybe?

17) Mickey Mouse, Goofy Kermit the Frog, and Donald Duck all make appearances when Triton arrives at the concert hall in The Little Mermaid.

I found one where it circles, Goofy, Donald and Mickey but the Kermit the Frog is quite tricky to see. Look in the second picture, look near the bottom and you should see something green....that's right that's Kermit the Frog!. Now, I have NO IDEA I can't even guess why they put Goofy, Donald and Mickey under water. Don't even let me hazard a quest on Kermit the Frog. I THINK, it might have something to do with a Muppets film because Disney have done numerous Muppet films. So, it could be a glimpse into the next Disney film of there being a Muppets film. So, that being said maybe.....just maybe....Goofy, Donald and Mickey are there to either present the Three Musketeers which was in 1993 and Little Mermaid 1989? Bit of a leap, but that's my logical conclusion.

18) Scar is turned into a rug in Hercules

This just made me laugh, I mean Scar who was formly known as Taka actually mean dirt and rubbish! Poor guy and now he is skinned and a show room in Hercules room? That's lovely. I mean there's that sense that you never see Scar's body when dead like Mufasa. BUT, it's quite a leap from Africa to Rome! Don't you think? But, if you always wanted the answer what happened to Scar plain and simple Hercules clean his trainers on.

19) And Mrs. Potts makes an appearance in Tarzan

I like this one, because we know the old man in this film the researcher, Jane's dad is English. So, seeing a very English tea set actually made me laugh but then I had to rewind it and see Mrs. Potts! Does, the master know you're travelling?

20) Frank Welker, the actor who voiced Abu, is also the voice of Transformers’ Megatron, Scooby-Doo’s Fred Jones, and Stripe in Gremlins.

I think this shocked me the most, because I didn't really know who Frank Welker was, and now I won't forget. He's been in Disney's Aladdin as Abu, Scooby Doo as Fred Jones, Transformers as Megatron, Stripe in Gremlins. And, that's just the foot step check out his IMDB page to know more click here http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0919798/

21 ) The people that voiced Minnie and Mickey mouse were actually married in real life.

I think this is one of the most hidden yet really hearty fact about Disney. The original Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were actually married, a couple, in love in real life. And, in honesty we see that in the cartoons.

So, What's The Bottom Line?

I could of kept going and going with hidden facts because if we are talking about small appearances in Disney Films there's loads of them. I would check them out, even Sebastian in Aladdin which I didn't mention. And, check out the Pixar Theory of how all the Disney Pixar films are actually in the same universe, click the link here: http://www.pixartheory.com/. I have to say it's a long theory but well worth the read. Bottom Line? Disney will always wonder and amaze us with there magic, childlike and fun films but I always look into the secrets and the hidden messages behind the films. Because, deep down you'll never know what you're going to find and that's the bottom line.
