What's The Bototm Line with Stable Gate Brewers Fayre?

Stable Gate
Lunch Meal on 2nd September 2014
Location: Denton, Manchester, M34 3SH

We ordered the following, and I will add the pictures of what the meal should of looked like

Hot Filled Ciabatta Meatball Melt £5.79
Meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with melted Cheddar cheese.

We received our meal quite quickly, because it wasn't packed. Now, the description above says 'Hot Filled Ciabatta Meatball Melt". Right, first of it wasn't really hot, the cheese was melted and the meatballs was warmish. My meatballs tasted a little funny, like it wasn't freshly done it tasted abit out of date and undercooked if am honest. Now, I will say it was Ciabatta bread and not garlic bread like some of you know from my visit to Wetherspoons. But, overall it was eatable this meal and I would be happy spending this kind of money because it was quick. I was surprise that the waiters or waitresses didn't ask how our meal was which is a given in a restaurant. But, the female waitress who asked for if anyone needed any of us, appeared friendly which is always nice to see when someone is serving you. However, I did order a side of garlic bread and it was spot on! It wasn't done under a grill like I've seen some places do it was done to perfection. The coleslaw from this place is fresh and perfect I would just be happy with a side of coleslaw and eat that! It's yummmy! Then, I had chips with this meal, it was on the menu. But, they called them 'Dippers' so they were the shape of what you see on Chicken Dippers but they were actually nice. Abit, dry so I had a bit of mayo with them and it was delicious. So, out of 10 I would give this a 6. Simply because of the meatballs issue and the fact when I see 'Hot' on a menu, I expect it the moment I take a bite I want a sip of my drink.

Cheese, Onion and Tomato Quiche £6:99
Deep-filled quiche served with lightly dressed side salad and chips or a jacket potato.

I tried a little bit of this and I've had it before. I would highly recommend the Quiche if you ever ever go here. The quiche is freshly done, and you can tell straight away if it's shop bought or they made it. The cheese and the onion and tomato just melt in your mouth. The pastry around the quiche is soft and just soft your fork can run through it. The salad was nice, it wasn't overly seasoned which annoyed me that some restaurants just purposely pour a pool of the dressing on the salad. But, the salad was properly seasoned, the chips were perfectly cooked and the quiche spot on. So, out of 10....I give it a 10. No faults with the meal and if you ever go here I would highly recommend it.

Beef Lasagne £7:99
Topped with melted Cheddar cheese and served with a lightly dressed side salad and chips or garlic bread.

Am not a lover of Lasagne, but I always have a little bit of the meal so I can review it so I can give you, THE PEOPLE know what to order. Now, I know for a fact that the pasta sheets was slightly over cooked because of how chewy it was, the sauce was simple and the cheese was perfectly melted. It appeared okay, it's Lasagne you can't expect a five star meal from a lasagne. The lightly dressed salad appeared just under seasoned because I only saw a little on there. The garlic bread like mine was done to perfection. Overall, I give this roughly a 7 out of 10. Simply, because of the pasta being chewy for myself. Dad, however loved it so it must of been good for him. I think it's about preference of how you like your pasta cooked and what kind of pasta you like.

Bottom Line?

Overall, I give this meal an 8 out of 10. The service was quick, this minor mistakes shouldn't of happened like pasta slightly over or my slightly cold and undercooked meatballs it's little things. And, the fact the waiter or waitresses didn't ask if it was okay...that annoys me because they should check even if they think or see we like it. But, I would recommend the Quiche to anyone from this place but not the hot filled Ciabatta bread.
